Friends of BDS Cup

The Southport & District Amateur Radio Club has been running National Science and Engineering Week events and summer fair special event stations at Bishop David Sheppard Primary School (BDS) in Southport for many years. In 2008 theFriends of BDS awarded the club with their highest accolade, the Good Friend Award Community Cup in recognition of the way the club supports the school. We must thank the ‘friends’ for the award and the school as they very kindly allow us to run our Amateur Radio foundation and intermediate courses on their premises.

Best Club Magazine

During 2003 and 2004 the club produced a professionally designed monthly newsletter that was freely available to all club members.

Our Publicity Manager at the time, Derek Hughes(G7LFC), is pictured receiving the Northern Amateur Radio Societies Association (NARSA) Club Magazine Shield from the previous year’s winner, the Warrington Amateur Radio Club, during April 2004.

Golden Web Award

We were awarded a Golden Web Award during 2003.

This award is issued by the International Association of Web Masters and Designers ” to those sites whose web design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving of recognition”.
