Amateur Radio is a fascinating hobby that allows you to:
- Communicate with your friends locally
- Make new friends around the world
- Operate from anywhere in the country (with a few restrictions)
- Use different modes (voice, CW/Morse, video, and various digital modes)
- Experiment in communications at your own pace
However, with the ability to practise world-wide communications as a hobby comes a few responsibilities and, to make sure that you are equipped to carry them out, the Government requires all new entrants to the hobby to attend a training course and pass a simple test. Your reward for passing the test is a Foundation License. Having gained your initial license you can upgrade to the Intermediate and Advanced Licenses, gaining additional benefits as you progress.
