Representatives of National Societies and Emergency Communications Groups gathered to discuss a range of topics. A high point of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the IARU and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies promoting co-operation. Gloucestershire County RAYNET at RIAT 2008, 8th to 13th July.
Gloucester County RAYNET (G6GLO) have now received clearance for the use of two frequencies during their support for the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford on 8, 10, 12 and 13th July, on behalf of the County Emergency Management Service.
The choice of working frequencies at the Tattoo has to be in negotiation with USAF approval and this year, Gloucestershire have been allocated 433.725/145.225 Voice(in combination with a Talkthrough Unit) and 144.650 Data.
Directional antennas will be used to minimise problems for other RAYNET Groups working in the area, but they will not be allowed to QSY in the event of co-channel interference, and ask for the cooperation and understanding of other Groups in their choice of working frequencies.
Regretfully, the Group is unable to accept assistance from external RAYNET members for this event, due to prior security requirements.
