Antartic Cruise Expedition 2009

A great opportunity to work in to Antartica will present itself during the Spring of 2009.

An amateur radio expedition will be opearting from a number of antarctic bases for approximately 5 to 7 hours per a base and possibly maritime mobile in the southern hemisphere.

The expedition team will depart Ushuaia (the capital of the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego and the world's southernmost city) aboard the 14m yacht "Le Boulard" on the 18th February 2009 and return the 17th March 2009.

The plan is to visit, and operate from, the following bases, though this is subject to weather and sailing conditions:

  • South Shetland archipelago
  • Machu Picchu,King Geoge isl
  • Republica del Ecuador refufe,King George isl
  • Maldonado,Greenwich isl
  • Station B-Whalers bay,Deception isl
  • Juan Carlos,Livington island (Maybe, not sure !)
  • West Graham Land, Antarctica
  • Station O,Danco isl
  • Videla,Danco coast Antarctica
  • Almirante Brown,Danco coast Antarctica
  • Palmer archipelago
  • Port Lockroy,Wiencke isl
  • Yelcho,Doumer  isl
  • Melchior,Observatorio isl (Maybe,not sure !)
