BDS, or Bishop David Sheppard Primary School as it is otherwise known, is located towards the Northern end of Southport, close to one of the town's most controversial landmarks, the infamous Gas Tower.
The Southport & District Amateur Radio Club (SADARC) is indebted to the school for allowing us to use the building several times a year for the running of our Foundation Courses. In return, we present 'An Introduction to Radio Communictions' to the Year 6 pupils during National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) and run the GB5BDS special event station during the school's Summer Fair.
The fair is normally held on the first Saturday of July and this has seen us endure excessive heat and unbelievable rainfall in past years. However, our efforts at the school always go rewarded as we see many young folk experience radio communications first hand. We have also picked up some candidates for our Foundation courses from this special event station.
If you are a member of the club and wish to take part in this special event station please contact us for further details.
