We will be raising money for the North West Air Ambulance

Coronation Park, Ormskirk

Southport & District
Amateur Radio Club

Thank you to all who have agreed to come along and run the special event station. This page will hopefully explain what we are doing during the day and will hopefully answer all your questions. If there are any you have which have not been addressed here please contact Derek (G7LFC) immediately.

Location

The event is being run on Coronation Park on Saturday, June 28th, 2008. A map of the location can be found here.

Setting up and stripping down

The park will be open for setting up from 08:00 and closed to vehicles at 10:45. Only vehicles carrying equipment (Derek [G7LFC], Brian [G0JCQ], Keith [G0OXV] and Chris [M3WJV]) will be allowed on to the park. All other cars must be parked off-site. The site will be stripped down starting 16:00 and we should be clear by 17:30.

Entry to the park will be from the road leading to Morrison's car park.

Parking in Ormskirk

There are two free car parks and four car parks that allow parking all day (all others are restricted to two and four hours). Ormskirk operates a strict Pay & Display system and the traffic wardens take no nonsense. The locations of the car parks can be found here.

What's to be done during the day?

Once setup there will be an HF station, VHF station, PSK-31 demonstration and Airborne radar demonstration running at various times during the day. These will all need operating with a second person logging contacts.

In addition to this we will be raising money for the North West Air Ambulance. We will have leaflets to be given out to people on the Park to invite them to take part in our "Guess the number" game and somebody will have to be back at the tent to take money and give out entry tickets.

Meeters and greeters will also be required so that visitors are shown around the demonstrations.

There should hopefully be plenty of time to nip off for a break.

What do you need to bring?

It could rain. Yes, sorry to mention that, but it just might. So waterproofs would be a good idea.

If you want to sit down, a chair would be a good idea, but don't bring one with legs that will sink in to the ground because they will sink in to the ground here. Fold out camping chairs, of the old or new type, are ideal.

Food and drink. We will have a stove available with a kettle, water and tea bags courtesy of Mrs G7LFC. If anyone would like to donate some sausages and rolls then I'm sure she won't mind cooking them if we ask her nicely.

Anything else?

Not sure at the moment, but keeping coming back to check just in case.

Thanks

Thanks again for your help. This is potentially our biggest special event station to-date, so let's hope the weather's fine and don't forget to enjoy yourselves.
