Monthly meetings

What happens?

On the third monday of every month, with a few exceptions (please refer to our diary), the Southport & District Amateur Radio Club holds its monthly meeting at St. Marks Church Hall, Scarisbrick, and everyone is welcome to attend.

A short business meeting is followed by an activity which can be:

  • Tea and a natter
  • Operate the club HF/VHF radios (weather permitting)
  • Visiting speakers
  • Surplus sale (usually the December meeting)
  • Tutorial sessions on a variety of topics

Recent speakers include a talk from the North West Air Ambulance, on the North Wales Semaphore, a presentation by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), an amusing visit from the local independent lifeboat station and a revealing talk by two of our resident Summits on the Air (SOTA) activators.

The monthly meetings are a great opportunity for those new to the hobby to gain some experience operating on the air under the supervision of our Advanced license holders.
